Doug was 21 years old when he appeared on Starcade. He grew up in Hayward, California and graduated from Tennyson High School in 1980. He moved to San Francisco, started a Punk Rock band that enjoyed minor success and, at the time of the taping, was engaged to his girlfriend Elizabeth.
According to his short bio, "My interest in video games goes all the way back to the early Pong games...my favorite games are Gravitar, Sinistar, and Pole Position. My highest score on a game was 700,000 on Galaga."

On May 22, 2009 Starcade received an email from Doug ... I do not know what it said because I never saw it. I pulled his file when his opponent Lance Daur checked in ... and saw a note 'Emailed 5/22/09'... I assume he made an effort to check in -- thus this page.
