Lance was 14 years old on June 9, 1983 when he made his appearance on Starcade episode #85. In the Fall of '83, Lance was going to be a Freshman at Santa Teresa High School in San Jose, California.  In a short bio, Lance told us, "I play first string Trumpet in the school band, one of my favorite activities. For the past eight years I have played soccer for the Blossom Valley Soccer Club of San Jose -- usually as a right or left wing defender -- and I have been on winning teams most of the time.
One of the other things I have done for enjoyment is building remote control gliders; unfortunately, I haven't flown many of them very successfully."

He continued, "My dad bought me one of the first video games on the market and our entire family has enjoyed playing it for several years now. (Remember: This was 1983 ... and home games were a novelty.) That is, until I began to beat all of them at every game so badly that they refused to play with me." Lance described his game playing ability as "very good"...which it was, he beat his opponent by 2,790 points.

Lance checked in Sept 14, 2023 and said, "Just stumbled across this while updating business information on Bing. I was on episode #85. It was a unique and wonderful experience being on Starcade! Geoff Edwards was a gracious host and a very kind man, and my competition on the episode, Doug, was also a wonderful person. I only wish I had won the grand prize arcade game in the end.
