SEAN KOVACS
Sean was 17 when he appeared on Starcade! in 1983 and he was a great player, winning the overall competition and the Grand Prize, an Amidar video arcade game. Later the same year we invited Sean back to appear on one of the Starcade! Invitational Shows where Starcade! winners played against each other. He made it to the final competition but was beat by a mere 1,840 points ... not much as video game scoring goes.
Sean's interest in video games and computers led him to a career in the field. "After high school I joined the US Navy as a Fire Control Technician (Ballistic) aboard a ballistic missile submarine and eventually became a Missile Technician. When I got out of the Navy I went to work at Microsoft as a Contractor becoming 'hired on' as a software test engineer. I recently left the company to work for Hewlett Packard as an OS Engineer ... "
Sean's Starcade Memory: "To this day (2/14/2001) my appearances on Starcade! remain as some of my fondest memories ever ... I remember having a total strategy planned out before appearing on the show." Mappy was Sean's favorite game and one he had hoped to play ... and he did.
