James was a sophmore in college when his show was taped in 1983. When he wasn't in school, "I work as a professional magician. I perform for private parties and I work in a local restaurant as a table entertainer (I do magic at the customers table while they wait for their food). ... I'm also an avid Star Trek fan and attend most of the science fictions I can get to."

"About four years ago while I was in high school I woild watch T.V. games shows and wonder how in the world people got on those shows. I promised myself someday if I ever found out how people did it, I would try to do it (it was one of my goals). So, here I am and I thank you for it."

Think nothing of it - We are happy we could help you achieve one of your goals

James had a rocky start - his opponent Steve Jones took the lead on the first game - Q*Bert by 150 points but James took the other 2 games (Disc of Tron and Cliff Hanger). He played the Name the Game Board and won the overall winner Grand Prize. He did not score enough points to win the Grand Prize - a Moon Patrol Video Arcade Game.

In September 2010 he checked share his experience on the show saying, "Taping the show was so much fun! Geoff Edwards was cool and my opponent Steve Jones was great! I will remember that….my score on Ms. Pac Man was not enough to win the Moon Patrol Game, but Geoff said…'a great year, but not a great score'…too funny!"

"Since being on Starcade, I have managed to stay with the same company I was working for back when I auditioned. At the time of my audition and appearance on the show in 1983, I was working at Marriott’s Great America Amusement Park in Santa Clara…now 28 years later and several stops in cities like Denver, Salt Lake and Phoenix, I am currently Group Sales Manager for Sports and Entertainment at The Ritz-Carlton, Phoenix."

"There is an ice-breaker game called 'Two Truths and One Lie', you mention 3 experiences and the other people have to guess the 'lie'… I always mention that I was on a TV Game Show and everyone thinks this is the lie! Ha-ha! I love talking about my experience from the show ... I love the video games from back in the 80’s! Even today, if I see a Galaga game, I have to drop in a quarter and play until I get my name on the Top Score list."

So do we, James, so do we...
